A
Realistic Approach to Exercise for CFS Patients Staci
Stevens Chronic Fatigue Battle ('94) Summer
2004 The CFIDS Chronicle: When Working
Out Doesn’t Work Out
Postexertional malaise, joint pain, crushing fatigue. There are lots of
reasons why exercise is often a dirty word to people with CFIDS.
Research suggests CFIDS patients may not get the oxygen they need
during exercise. While a cookie-cutter approach to exercise
doesn’t work, many PWCs can benefit from an analeptic
exercise
program.

| April
21,
2007 | Alan Pocinki,
MD Internal
Medicine | | Topic | The cycle of pain, fatigue, poor sleep, and
depression.
With extra detail about sleep. Discussion will
address the importance of treating
all aspects of the cycle--sleep, pain, and depression--in order to
improve fatigue. Helping one or two alone isn't enough--it's the
holistic thing. You can't just fix one piece and expect the other
pieces to fix themselves. For sleep, and of course this
applies
equally to pain and other symptoms (and depending on time we can talk
about them, too) I'll stress that different people have non-restorative
sleep for different reasons, so sleep needs to be evaluated, eg with
sleep study, to have the best chance of concocting an effective
cocktail to improve it.

Rowe directs the Chronic Fatigue Clinic at Hopkins Children’s.
His work first identified the relationship between chronic fatigue

first reported the association between Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and CFS.
He has been interested in the association between orthostatic
intolerance and upper gastrointestinal symptoms, fatigue in cancer
